I'm just going to throw it out there. I have no idea.

It seems lighter than lead and is some sort of metal. It is a colour I am not familiar with when seeing corroding metal. Light brown rust and it is like sand paper? I found it at at about 8 inches deep in dark soil.

Just want to make sure it is not cryptonite :). I realize it may be hard to tell. Just hoping someones knows.

Not hoping... I looked at it under a
30 x micro scope. Just looks weird. Definitely not concrete as it gives a signal with MD. I've pulled 1000 things from the spot... none with this color. Just making sure it is not uranium or ....lol. probably nothing.

Could you break open a small surface, if you think its a rock. Would like to see a freshly exposed surface.

I think it could be related to limonite in one way or another. (as a first impression)
