Hmmm "A FRAGMENT FROM SUPERMANS HOME PLANET???"

I didn't find this with my MD but..

I found this in a field during excavation of one of my new homes today. I spotted it and ran out and grabbed it.

I have found many small ones in the past in this area but holly @&$# never even close to this. I put a Quarter next to it so you can see the size... Mega.,... If it could only be a diamond...:)...

WoW!

How'd that get there?

Neat find!

Re: Hmmm "A FRAGMENT FROM SUPERMANS HOME PLANET???"

Great find! Herkimer diamonds are not quartz crystal. They're a totally different class. What you have there is simply a quartz crystal. And a huge one! ;D

Woooof! What a chunk! :o

It sure would be fun to take it to a rock shop or natural history museum just to show it off.
That has got to be a rare size.

Hey TNT2000
Did you mention that you were from Easton, PA in another post?
I graduated from EAHS in 1987 and wondered if we knew each other.

Hi all,

That is smokey quartz and its a nice specimen but not uncommon. Herkimer diamonds are in fact a type of quartz crystal. The difference is a Herkimer diamond grows free and has facets all the way around. See how yours only has nice crystal on the top and not the bottom its because it grew from a rock not free. Plus yours is foggy Herkimer diamonds are clearer. Value around $10-$25 the clearer the better, the smoother the better. But why sell it? ?

PS: Don't test by scratching glass because you can damage the facet. ( Even real diamonds )

Keep @ it and HH!!

Re: Hmmm "A FRAGMENT FROM SUPERMANS HOME PLANET???"

Markg Yes from Easton... Wilson AHS 1982...I am new at this any good finds in Easton area...
My wife, kids, and I are heading north this Sunday some good history up there..

Re: Hmmm "A FRAGMENT FROM SUPERMANS HOME PLANET???"

Re: Hmmm "A FRAGMENT FROM SUPERMANS HOME PLANET???"

Come to Arkansas they come much bigger up to say 12 inches across and that is just one point much larger clusters that can weigh into the tons and can dig up a truck load of them thanks Noel

Re: Hmmm "A FRAGMENT FROM SUPERMANS HOME PLANET???"

That is a neat find for your area. The previous post mentions about digging for them in AR. That's where I got mine from. It's fun digging for them, once you find a big, big one you need a backhoe to dig it out.
