Went forth this AM? with the ACE again hitting the edges of sidewalks.? Found quite a bit of clad which you've all seen and this strange button.? The park dates back before the City of Tulsa was incorporated and at one time was a swimming hole "out in the woods" as one old timer told me.? Now it's in Downtown Tulsa and is used as a soccer field and a place to hold Veteran's Day Services. The button appears old and under magnification, the center piece is a skull!? Rather odd and no idea of origin or age. No writing on it anywhere and the back has a simple loop, made of brass I think.

Neat find!! Any pics of the back? Could help date it :) Is it solid cast brass or is it hollow, or does it have a backcover?

That's a pretty little button, jimmi! Sorry, but you'll always be jimmileo to me. ;D Happy Hunting!

Q S A K A J,

Nice button. Could it be some sort of fraternal organization?

You need to adjust the date on your photos.

nice find Jim...i hit some edges of sidewalks this past weekend and had some good luck..found a couple of wheat's and the normal clad ..i think that these spots are good...not hunted very much

There is a machine shop about 20 miles from Rutland which made all the buttons for the North and the South.
The buttons for the South were sold to someone in England and made the trip to there than back to the South. Seems to me they may have made all kinds of buttons, etc.

The back looks like it may have had a cover piece at one time but it wasn't in the hole as I always couble check the hole when I dig. It's just hollowed out shaped kinda' like a bowl with the loop thingy sticking out of the middle. No numbers ,no letters, nothing. Without that I know it probably won't be identified so that's why I posted it under today's finds instead of what is it. JIM aka KS

Nice find Jim/Kws. I have no ideal on that one..
