There is a new school that they just built 100 yards from me (well new in 2002), I hadn't bothered hitting it thinking there would not be much there. Then yesterday decided I would go try it out as there is a big field behind it that they practice peewee football. Picked up the usual collection of pennies and dimes, then on my way back to the truck just swinging in case I walk over something I get a penny signal and I think to myself 'do I want to dig another penny?' so I decide to dig as it was very shallow. I bent down and dug it out with my finger at less than an inch deep and to my surprise it was a 1893 Indian Head penny! WOW! My first in the 1800's! Hard to make a lot of it out but with a mag glass it is obvious. The 189 is real clear but the 3 is pretty hard to make out! Doesn't matter to me as it is still a great find! Who would of thought. To the best of my knowledge that had always been a field!
