Found some great finds at an old training post for the War of 1812(200 year anniversary is next year). Found some nice dropped amo and militia buttons. Buttons : US Eagle(The Great Coat Button, 1820) LA1(light artillery 1st regiment 1811-1813), A2(Artillery 2nd Regiment), US(Army General Service, cast pewter 1808-1830), Cannon (Artillery, 1st Regiment 1802-1808). Also found an 1842 Large Cent. Tons of buttons that have been worn down flat. Lead seal, under garment buttons, handle to a medal straight razor etc... Hope you enjoy the importance of this era of hour history. USS Constitution was used during the War of 1812(oldest commissioned warship afloat in the world, 33-0, Old Iron-sides). :icon_thumleft:

Dems a lot of bullets :D That site must've been what we'd now call da hood. "You dere on dat horse, mosey on along or I'm gonna bust a cap three ringer in yo butt!" :laughing7: Nice hunt there

Very nice. Love those buttons :notworthy:

Great site and outstanding set of finds.
Buttons are really nice.

Palmetto

Would I be wrong to assume the minie balls are more recent than the 1812 on conflict? Thought rifled muskets were not used in the War of 1812, only smoothbore.

Could this site also have been a staging area for civil war units?

Awesome bunch of goodies there! NIce haul!

Excellent finds, love the history. Looks like you have a great spot there.

some nice buttons you got there, not to mention the rest of all those cool relices

Christ, that's an amazing spot! How long have you been hitting it? I don't think I'd ever leave.

Wow! Super Finds! What area did you find them in? :icon_thumleft:
No specifics of course... lol

Great finds!! I have two militia training camps near me that were used pre-revolution through the civil war.

I have wondered the same thing. Were they transitioning to Three ring bullets during the War of 1812? I believe this site went on to be a training post for CW era also. :dontknow:

Found them in the ground.
I have been hinting this site for a couple of years and everytime I go I find more artifacts. I have a huge display of lead bullets. They tested munitions at this site.
Thanks for all the kind words. :icon_thumleft:
