UPDATE. SPOON CLEANED UP. I don't know why. I have no excuse. This house is 2 minutes from mine and it belongs to my step father, it was built in 1911 and I've never hunted it.... Until today for 1 hour. Definitely going back tomorrow. My shovel hit the spoon. I'm thinking of taking it to a jeweler to see if it can be cleaned up.

I don't know anyone that has been hunting for any length of time that hasn't hit their target with a digging tool. Happens to all of us at some point in time. I'd call that a minor "ding" at best. At least it wasn't a high end relic. Nice finds and Good luck.

Thanks guys. You just hate it when you know it would have been perfect. My stepfather grew up in this home and so did his father. We're trying to find out if any of his aunts or uncles would have graduated in 1917 to see if one of them may have lost the pin. Our family will display it proudly either way.
