UPDATE. SPOON CLEANED UP. I don't know why. I have no excuse. This house is 2 minutes from mine and it belongs to my step father, it was built in 1911 and I've never hunted it.... Until today for 1 hour. Definitely going back tomorrow. My shovel hit the spoon. I'm thinking of taking it to a jeweler to see if it can be cleaned up.

Those are sweet finds. The spoon wasn't hit that bad.Congrats.HH.

I don't know anyone that has been hunting for any length of time that hasn't hit their target with a digging tool. Happens to all of us at some point in time. I'd call that a minor "ding" at best. At least it wasn't a high end relic. Nice finds and Good luck.:icon_thumleft:

Everything looks great! Better beat it back over there! Sure hope that spoon cleans up. Keep us informed. It's not hit bad at all.

Nice finds. Congrats on the silver and old spoon. Don't sweat it, most of us have scratched a recovery or two (or three). :tongue3:
Congrats,
MM

Thanks guys. You just hate it when you know it would have been perfect. My stepfather grew up in this home and so did his father. We're trying to find out if any of his aunts or uncles would have graduated in 1917 to see if one of them may have lost the pin. Our family will display it proudly either way.

I know most like that spoon because it's silver, but I am partial to the senior pin. I hope you can put a name or face to the graduation year. Nice finds.

Very nice finds, being in the family makes it that much sweeter.

Nice finds! We all have dinged something...sigh, mine was a barber dime. Still winch when I look at it.

nice finds! just google how to clean silver with vinegar, baking soda, and aluminum foil. works great

Cleaned up the spoon. I put the pics on the original post so you could see the before and after. I know it's not a great find, but I like it and wanted to share.
