All Treasure Hunting
So I went out to a local park that I had never been to before with my hunting buddies, Lee and Larry. Larry was driving by it a week or two ago and noticed they had moved some dirt around, so we waited patiently for him to get some free time to go out and hunt it with us since we didn't want to be the kind of guys who took others prime hunting ground. Sadly, there were holes everywhere and you could tell that someone had cherrypicked it already. My first signal was a 1909 V Nickel with half of the edge sticking out of the ground. I also found 2 Buffalo Nickels, a no date D mintmark and a 1936D. I also found some older Jeffersons, 1946 and 1947. I also managed to pull 3 wheats out of there as well; 1912, 1914, and a no date with crud all over it.

Then later on this evening I met up with Lee at a park here in town that I have been hunting a lot lately. 30 seconds into it I get a great signal... Out pops a 1925S Mercury Dime. Then 5min later I get a nickel hit and pull 2 V Nickels out of the same hole! :) The years were 1902 and 1906. I then managed one more wheat (1942) before it got too dark. Not a bad day if you ask me! :):)

I had only found one V nickel ever prior to today and had never found more than one buffalo nickel in a day. 2 Firsts today! :)

Sweet day you had.........Congrats..............All these years never got a V nickel...........1 day it will come...........

MAN! Very nice.. I find it odd you don't find more wheaties.. I find them A LOT, I have found pretty much all the common dates a couple times over but do you think I could find the old nickels and IH... no! I just started turning the discrimination way down and am already doing better though.. I hope to have posts like this soon.. Thanks for the pics! 8)

I have found 269 wheats this year and 30 indian heads. I find wheats almost everytime I go out, but if that is all I find then I don't make a post, haha. I'm too lazy I guess to take pictures of just a wheat penny these days since 90% of the ones that are dug aren't worth more than their face value. Oh well.

What a day, Bsco! No Indian Head today :D? The silver looks in decent shape. I love finding V-nickels. I found 4 this year.

Haha nope... no Indian Heads... oh well. At least we are each tied at 4 v nickels a piece on the year, haha.

You gave the hint, :D, the competition is on for the Vs, too! Ha ha ha - it will be fun. Do you, Larry, and Lee have friendly competition like this? Who is winning within the club?

Looks like i need an Explorer 2 for my birthday. Even though i dont think i will get it. haha My birthday is on thursday! ;D Nice job on hunting!

Haha, the competition isn't even close with those guys. I think the two combined have fewer than 5 silver coins on the year, no indian heads, and maybe 25-50 wheats.

Nice old nickles.

The V's held up better than the buffalos.

Brian....Where have you been? Hitting it hard with the MD while summer lasts no doubt...Haven't seen you on the CRH forum for a while. Too damn hot here in CA to detect much. I think our seasons are kind of opposite. I MD mostly in the fall, winter, and spring for coins and nuggets and hunt rolls in the summer...

Not a bad day? Sounds like a super day to me. Way to go on those sweet finds!

Fantastic finds and pics....Digging a V nickel and two buff's in one park then going to another park and finding two more V's in the same hole and then the merc in the same day plus all the rest of the digs was one heck of a day for sure. Keep up the great work, dude ;) ....HH
