Hit a diamond piece Buff nickel & other stuff

We had an unusual extra week of THing weather here in Michigan so I got out as much as possible. I've been doing well on the usual lumber camp relics.

Anyway, last evening I decided to hit my own front yard. In 13 years and 12+ different detectors I've never found anything good in this area. But, since I never hunted it with the Nautilus IIB I thought I'd waste a little time there.

I dug the second half of an old roller skate I had dug last week on the other side of the house. I dug the spoon part of a 1920's ice cream spoon handle I dug last spring some 30-40 feet from this location.

I then got a very small but solid good signal. I dug down 10+ inches and widened the hole. I was hoping my wife wasn't watching! The signal was still in the center of the hole. I took one more shovel full of dirt and I finally got it. I think it's a 1890's style scarf holder. I saw it had 3 fake diamonds in it. Well, I thought they were fake! By the time I got to the house only 1 remained. Somehow I lost 2 stones!

I put the remaining stone under light and almost lost my cool! I went back outside and shoveled the dirt from the spot and put it into a drying area. I'll sift that stuff and see if I can find the other 2.

Man...BE CAREFULL with those finds!

Love & Peace!

Oh, I almost forgot! I dug the sterling silver ring and buff by an old sidewalk in town. Both were less than 5 inches deep.

Re: Hit a diamond piece Buff nickel & other stuff

Bummer about the 2 lost stones :(

One way to look at it though, having the one left is better than none.
You can still have it set in a nice ring, subtle one and subtle reminder to be careful ;)
Easy to find a ring mount on the Bay too...then have a jeweler set it...and VIOLA!

If no one walks in the area where you think you lost them...maybe in spring (or if it doesn’t snow soon) on a sunny day (do they have them in MI? lol...j/k) you might see them glisten in the sun one day!

Oh my, them be some crusty skates!
But, they're cool cause I remember having a pair like that (oops! Did I just tell my age?) lol

Thanks for the ebay tip! I didn't think about that. That sure would be cheaper than having a jeweler make one from scratch.

Great videos,

Makes me wanna move over to the U.k. I'd be hitting every field I could over there. Man I could be a great treasure hunter over there.

You are so right. You can have a few hundred dollar detector and do awesome with it if you find the right locations. Most items are 4 to 6 inches deep. Or even less than that.

Location is everything. Hard to find consistent spots nowadays. But there is still alot of treasure out there to be found. Just takes time patience and know how.

Right on all the way! I deleted the post you're referring to and was going to change it but you covered it nicely in your post.

I also would love to hunt the UK but to be honest I'd be even happier to be able to consistently hunt the hot Civil and Revolutionary War sites.

Best to you.

Badger P.S. Here's my latest little film strip. I left out all the titling and music stuff for this one.

Re: Hit a diamond piece Buff nickel & other stuff

Was hoping to see some nice iron finds but all you found was some jewelry with diamonds and an old Bufffalo nickle. Maybe next time, LOL, great finds! HH, Mike

Re: Hit a diamond piece Buff nickel & other stuff

Gotta love it when you get some goodies in your own yard!
I'd say keep detecting it, you just never know!
WTG!!! :)

Re: Hit a diamond piece Buff nickel & other stuff

Badger! :D You try and stay outta trouble, K? :D Maybe all that snow will cover up that big 'ole hole in the yard. :D I do hope you find those diamonds! And I love those video's too! Congrats on your finds...

Nana :)
