Historical map forum: Welcome! Q & Answers!
This is to introduce a forum that is committed to talk about historical maps only. Here you can get the majority of your questions answered within hours, days according to the difficulty involved. You can post and offer suggestions and propose ideas. This forum is for avid enthusiasts, whose desire it is to research a treasure hunt or a gold prospecting venture.
Historic maps are an absolute MUST, if you do not want to spend your hours wandering around aimlessly. Old maps are our connection to the past and are justifiably the reflection of what used to be. I used them when researching the muddy banks of the River Thames, to locate old coins from different centuries. I’ve used a “Topo” map to follow the possible direction of a crashed DC-3 at the inception of World War II. Again, the “Topo” map were an ally when researching the Cecil B. DeMille lost silver and gold coin collection. Even my escapades to trace the lost mine in the Ruby Lake district of Elko county, Nevada. I confess that nothing was ever located in any of these three adventures, but using an old survey map along the Platte River I did discover a lost military outpost, coins and artifacts.
It takes people to make a forum interesting, so the door is open to all avid parties. So come and ask your questions? Indicate what special map your looking for? As an old retired Professor of Earth Sciences, I’ll be there to assist you? Hey! I might be a senior, but I have years of experience with old maps.
