Dominated by pay camping in my area. Indeed, there is no option to search for free camping, only a <$25 search term. Only freebies that I see are national forest where its free anyway.
Be interesting to see if folks in other areas have different experiences and where they are located.
 

I just found this website Hipcamp, people host campers on there private land. There are lots of historic places in colorado that are private, using Hipcamp. It can open up some new places, and get you out camping! Check it out:)


Interesting. And I consider "metal detecting" to be a part of camping. :hello:
 

The hosts charge small fees, but you have access to land that was inaccessible. People are funny, you might want to ask them for permission first. Different situations require different approaches. Most people are kind. Someone from treasurenet needs to host a hip camp that has lots of goodies for detectorists. I would be into it, especially old ground.
