Hi There Folks-

Postcards provide a wealth of information for beech hunters!

Readily available for your perusal in the local newsagents, when you are in buying your spare batteries!

Study them for the pattern of where the sunbathers and swimmers tend to congregate, where people enter and exit the beech, the location of temporary concession and lifeguard stands , beechgame areas such as volleyball and anything else you might think of!

Happy hunting!

Good suggestion for off time hunting, (like at night when the crowds are gone) at a beach you are unfamiliar with. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. HH, Ralph

A trip to the local free history museum in the place I hunt had a lot of old pics and such all over. Learned a lot of things I never knew. Like where the first 2 houses were built on the coast. Where the first one room school house is... etc.

OK ... I checked out the local shops for postcards and not one has a beech on it.
Must not be any around here.
Found some with lots of mesquite trees.

I usually hunt for Maple or other type burl producing trees.
Never found a beech tree but will keep my eyes open.

How much is beech wood worth nowadays?

Vintage postcards on Ebay are a valuable resource. Type in the city you hunt in and you will be surprised.
