i would like to find a point that big them are nice

nice points and cool site, but i really see nothing wrong with someone finding what he hopes to be a treasure for someone else.maybe he sold it to get a monster high doll, treasure to a little girl.

Not being up on prices because I don't sell mine. What would you guess something like would go for?

Nobody said anything about finding something wrong. I personally hope the cache stays together and is curated by someone who will keep them for a long time..the more they change hands the higher the probability they will be sold individually. And I completely disagree with hunting artifacts for money... if that's what you meant Jamey.

I imagine the sum would be greater than the parts when it comes to a cache of that caliber.

if I found anything like that, I would always treasure it. ever wonder why they hid them in caches?

Yes I have. I imagine it would be like storing weapons and ammo. very valuable weapons... I'm pretty sure not everyone was that good and the ones who were we're basically rich by their standards. JMO.

That brings up an interesting point.. Are you saying you agree With hunting artifacts for cash?

If you are talking about the points me and my father dug under a musket ball target.....they are every one on my wall right now in a $70 display case..... I haven't sold anything to anyone.

I agree 100%. They might have hid them until they were needed and ended up for what ever reason never coming back for them. JMO as well.

GOOD!! .... man im happy to hear that!
I thought the odds slim that another cache of the same type point found in the same state all of that size and quality to be very slim.... but there you have it.
That's good news...can you post your display?

I'd love to see those "rocks" again too.

Since the words "Batwing" and "cache" were used in the description, I think it would be part of, or the whole "Batwing cache" from a few years back. I did some asking around about it when I found mine, and I was told it was found in three seperate caches.....and a few of the guys I talked to said there was some doubt about their authenticity, because they were all too perfect and all desireable colors. I hate to jump to any conclusions on it, as I would have hated for anyone to of doubted mine. I don't know the story of that find or if they have been sold, but I have found t-shirts, posters and a book on them for sale....plus pics of them at shows.

I hope they are real, because they are an inspiring find.

I assure you that mine are in a good home where they are appreciated.

I will take a pic of the display tomorrow when the lighting is better.

Thanks so much.... good job! And congratulations again!

Well thank you... while part of me would like to edit out the entire incorrect assumption I made here.... I'm real happy with the information it brought out. And we should have a photo of some super Florida artifacts on here tomorrow.

A while back a metal detectorist posted an amazing cache of Hillsboro points found in north Florida. He and his father were digging musket balls when he found them. I remember a guy asking to buy them right here on Treasurenet in the thread he posted.
Well looks like it didn't take him long to sell them.
Maybey they will go to a good home.
Here they are.

Does that outfit actually get those prices for those points?

I looked and they did not look like yours. But it is nice to see other like examples. Yours are famous as well glad you kept them and Gator remembered them

I have no idea. I was doing an image search and one of the pieces interested me. ...the drilled shark teeth. One was marked sold.
