We completed today's objective in just over 4 hours - ''To complete the Western edge''.
The coins thinned out pretty quick & although 1 was pretty close to the edge of the field it wasn't like the Eastern edge. We have now completely gridded half of the total size of the field. We now have the whole of the Northern edge to do, although it's the edge outside of the main activity, so we are not expecting much.

10 Scrappies
Broken Tudor Clothes Fastener
Celtic Brooch
4 Roman Brooches
1890 Sixpence
Charles I hammered Penny
Star find - Complete Romano-Celtic Toggle, circa 1st C AD in stunning condition (only our 3rd complete example & this is the best of them):icon_thumright:

Exactly........ for those of us uninitiated.
Which item in the images above and what would it be used for?

Really interesting finds and information ..... always!!!
Thanks for taking the time to share.

I have to claim ignorance on a toggle? You have some great finds there!

It's the item on it's own with a loop.

A toggle is a clothes fastener, basically the earliest type of Button.
