This hunt started yesterday in my head & it gave me butterflies thinking about it, I just knew I was going to have a good day & when they gave out the weather report which was perfect, the game was on.
7 days ago I commented on my 'Day 6' post that this field should produce a Celtic Gold, as we had had 4 bronze & 1 silver. In fact Cru'dad got real lucky & actually predicted it before our hunt, in our usual game of 'guess the result/closest wins'. Even though I had a good feeling I wasn't going to roll the dice on today being it! (should have done though!)
The Gold fell to me (my 3rd this year!) & was just before the 1st hour. It was not far off where Land-Mag had being loosely gridding whilst we were where in scout mode. Near the big dip on the high ground near the corner.
5 Hours:

19 Roman Bronze Coins
Jetton
Roman Fibula
Roman Pin
17th C Spur Buckle
Tudor Book Clasp
Henry III Hammered Cut Halfpenny
Charles I Halfgroat made into a Love Token (rare to get a hammered version!)
VERY RARE - Celtic Gold Quarter Stater of Tasciovanus 25-20 BC:headbang:

The sticky mud made it feel like 8 hours! (well worth the effort though):metaldetector:

You are living the life :occasion14:
I know we are like beavis & butthead in the car home. Even to us going out & getting a rare coin nearly every outing just seems unbelievable. We have to remind ourselves that we are very targeted about where we hunt & that we grid until it comes good. We have systematically covered over 12 acres to get this coin.:occasion14:

Incredible hunt! Unbelievable gold coin. You guys are at another level. Congrats!

Thanks. Without growing a too bigger head, I feel we are at the top of our game. Improvement at this point would take a 3rd person to just follow us around & do the GPSing. (which does eat up some of Cru'dads hunting time!)

Man, if I lived on that side of the pond I would be happy to tag along with you guys (...if the third wheel got some detecting time :laughing7:)

Honestly joking aside, it's really tough to do a 3 man grid when you all do different paces. I'm much quicker than Cru'dad so I go ahead & often turn around at the end & head back to finish his run. This just doesn't work with 3 people.

nice! how many gold coins have you guy's found

Incredibly historic finds as always Cru,nice to see you and your Dad still detecting in December!

Gold, silver & bronze... looks more like you guys were at the Winter Olympics then detecting in England. :laughing7:

Dave

Wow that is a beauty! Just amazing!

That's one way to blow your Christmas load, hahahah. I'd be so so so happy with any of those finds. Good job, nay, great job on your efforts!

Congrats on the Celtic gold.

Outstanding hunt, congratulations! :notworthy:

Another BANNER find, vote in! :icon_thumleft:

The third gold this year for you...Congrats! We know you deserves it for all these hours out in the field! :occasion14:

Congrats to you sir! Always a pleasure to see your successes.

I wonder how it feels. You are as good as Iโ€™ve ever seen, consistently exceptional finds, I just wonder how that would feel. Iโ€™m excited to find a silver dime from 1950. I canโ€™t even imagine finding a gold coin from 2000 years ago. Wow.

Good luck brother!

Unbelieveable find. Big congrats from across the pond!

Amazing as always nice gold and Roman coins Happy Holidays to you your Dad and family. Tommy

always blown away by your finds, to me most are banner worthy and would be if found here for sure. I am sure it is more the thrill of the hunt for you as you go from one awesome find to the next one. just happy for you to be able to share this time with your father like you are able to, very cool. please don't stop
