Regardless of whether or not he was flustered or stressed or not, such a statement should have never been made by a presidential hopeful. I'm certainly no renowned historian or statesman but by the age of 5 I knew full well that there exist 50 states, and have never deviated from those facts even when stressed. It is not an error that a purportedly intelligent man would make without immediate recognition and correction, unless another agenda was at play at the time.
