I've hunted Highland park res. a couple times in the last week and..gee-wizz the trash is rediculous.

Back when I detected before, I stuck to the more secluded areas of the park and turned up a couple IH's and SOME tabs....but I tried a couple of the older shelters and I couldn't swing my machine without 3 or 4 crackles from trash. Bottle caps, tabs, foil....it's just blanketed with junk.

I managed to pull out a few clad quarters, along with 3 times the bottle caps, a couple dimes and some pennies.

This was a public park dating back to the 1830's so the junk just grew.

My question...if i'm diggin clad at 4"...how deep you think those goodies are that I'm missing cause i got my disc. up so high?
I think I'd break my back diggin trash.

Has'nt this place been hunted a bunch of times over the years? Why's all the trash still there? Am i the only guy that digs half the crappy signals?

And on a sad note...what used to be the King's environmental Learning Center is now private property, posted no trespassing.
A shame...i found a couple IH's there too where the bottom of the sledding run was/is. Dont know if they still let the public use that for sledding now or not.
May have to ask someone...take a tour someday.

Lotta history to Highland Park.

Hey deep,
how ya doin ? I'm across the river in Plum. I had no clue that Highland park had a resivour(sp).I do know that there is certainly some old history in that area. My sister had a house in historical register on 10th street over there. The area yer swingin sounds like it needs a small coil low and slooooow.I have a site my wife and i work over here and it is also loaded with trash..all iron tho, and from the good coins i got in the past i have decided to jist wotk this spot real slow and dig EVERYTHING till i git it clean enough to grab the deep good coins i am sure is there.

Hiya Jim West pa

Yea, just above the Pittsburgh Zoo.

Google Highland park, Pa. Gives a real good historical account of HP.

Still trying to figure how to get under those dang power lines tho.

I grew up about a 5 minutes drive from Highland Park. When I was young I used to walk to King's Estate to go sled riding. I have detected both the park and King's Estate. What I've been told is that the sledding area is owned by the city now and is part of the park so M.D.ing is allowed. I have been told often by the people walking their dogs there that it gets detected a lot. Probably why I never really found anything there even though it is such a popular sledding spot. A doctor from Pittsburgh bought the actual mansion. I got his name and even where he works but I have yet to be able to get a hold of him. That mansion has been there forever.

P.M. me if you're interested in meeting up there and detecting sometime.

Found one of my only 2 IH's at kings some years back...way down the bottom where the sledding trail ended. Wouldnt mind goin back tho.....

place couldnt be hunted out...dont believe in it.

Lotta trash in the shelters here but the history still goes wayyyyyyy back.
