humor me please o wise ones. these questions may seem elementary to some of you. why would i use a highbanker rather than a sluice if i have the opportunity. i understand i cant take material from above the water line and put it in my sluice. what legal issues are there with a highbanker in california. do i recirculate the same water or take it from the creek. i know i cant let the water back into the creek with a highbanker. reason i ask is i may acquire one through a trade.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure a high banker in California is a no go. It is at least where I'm at. You will here different answers but I think california it's " no motorized equipment"

A highbanker is still legal in komifornia, you just have to have a settling pond so that no silt getsback to the creek. Jus' clean h2o.

In these trying times with fines a plenty I'd go sluice as much cheaper-much lighter-much easier to move around-QUIET-and you still move quite a bit of material. Later when things quiet down and you found a new motherlode then get serious. tons a au 2 u 2-John

there is no " NON_ MOTORIZED" Rule. except in certain specific areas

i beleive i would be able to set it up in the creek if i was processing material from below the water line, the crack i worked yesterday is about sixty yards from where i had my sluice set up. i could set up a highbanker right next to me so i dont have to truck the material. i did pretty good shoveling and processing the overburden then sniping the remainder of the material. my best take home yet. would not have happened but both sets of batteries for the fors gold crapped out early in the day. thats called backup plan.

Never visited such a confusing topic. Wet to wet, dry to dry, no motorized, etc...

Went HBing yesterday. Worked great for the conditions which is a trickle of water in the creek. Followed the Wet to Wet rule. Pumped water from a pool upstream to the hibanker and it flowed back to the original spot it came from. Only got a little gold but proved the concept. And my friend got to test his equipment.

Ah, Ok...good to know. Thank you, sir. I have only been out prospecting maybe a dozen times since I started 2 years ago. I really enjoy it I just wish I could get out more often!:BangHead: I have a TON to learn, but I have already learned so much from all of you here at Tnet. The community here is pretty awesome.
