Went back to my new site this weekend with the 700. Still a challenge to train the ears to translate a 40 max vdi to a 99 max. Had a really loud 94 signal, thought it would be an old pie pan and it was a silver quarter. Decided to also start digging the lower numbers and got the typical handful of foil but also got a nice Buffalo nickel.

The new site is pretty overgrown but shows up on the 1860 map. Only truly old item in 3 hunts now is maybe the one spoon, so I must not be on the old dirt yet. Lots of signs of the older occupants down the path with scattered bricks and pottery everywhere. First clay pipe stem piece I’ve found in SW PA. I think this is early 1800’s or maybe late 1700’s.

Still a lot of work to be done at this site and still learning the new detector.
