Four of us went to the creek today to see what we could find. One of us was real fortunate and I'll give y'all a hint, it wasn't me! I was two feet away when this little pot was found. I am still high and I didn't find it! The same guy found a couple brokes and many teeth, probably horse or camel according to him.

I was there today with fyrffytr1 and the rest of our group and I have to say that pot is nice! I had walked up stream to look for a new site and when I returned, I could see the smile on this ol boy's face! I knew right of way he had something worth looking at. The fellow that found this pot has been working hard in the creek for quite sometime, coming up with a few points every now and again & maybe a shark's tooth. Today, it was good to see the work paid off for him. Could not have been found by a better person. Well,..... maybe by me!:laughing7: Hat is off friend!

OMG, that is one sweet find!

If he doesn't let that pot dry out properly he may wind up with a handful of shards. Good find, I like seeing that.

I was wondering if you could add your info on the proper method of drying pottery. not to just use his post.....
it may help

until you have an expert opinion I can tell you how I take care of mine. I'm in florida where for most of the year it's very humid. so I let mine dry wrapped in a towel in the shade of my back patio. the idea behind it is to let it dry slowly... as opposed to keeping it in the air conditioned low humidity environment inside the house. while avoiding direct sunlight. I don't bother with small sherds but after it is completely dry a quick soak in a acetone and Ducco cement solution will seal it and strengthen it.

Always learning is spot-on. Another thing that will often help is to put rubber bands around it to apply just a little pressure. You can use a damp towel, but make sure that it's not completely wet or you can get some funky fungus that may discolor it or even affect the slip. I know of some people who wrap them in tape, but I don't recommend it. Be very, very careful if you decide to clean it - I would test a small area first by lightly rubbing it with your finger. Some pottery is much more fragile than others, just go slowly.

Thanks for the info. I will see that it gets passed on to the finder.

Really nice pot find. Congrats on that terrific find.

this is what I dealt with this morning..ha ha
