My son Seth and the old man managed a quick hunt yesterday ahead of some spring snow . Above 7000 feet and real windy yet warm enough to hunt in a light shirt 6 hours in the high Sierra Nevada's . I found the broken points and scrapers my son found the obsidian Sierra stemmed point a few brokes and cores of jasper .

Those are quite nice! That one piece in the lower left looks like it might be a burin? Most people forget that those native hunters traveled to the higher elevations with the game. The game migrated to those areas where it was cooler and less biting insects.

Good finds Dennis. On the banded obsidian point, I love the shock ripple from when it was struck off the core. It was "scarred" for life from that time on! :laughing7:

Nice points and great pictures. Thanks!

Almost like a graver / Burin we were trying to find some rock hunting blinds that we found on a previous hunt but fire has changed the landscape .

It would seem very difficult to leave that little burr on there by accident. Very pretty scenery. Looks warmer than you describe. Crisp, clean air -beautiful!

Meanwhile, (on the east coast) we’ve got pollen clouds hanging like fog all over the land.

I tried a couple of times yesterday to load this photo of the other side .

My sister in law lives up in those mountains about 40 miles from Lake Tahoe. We visited her years ago & it was a very beautiful area. They are getting up in years and health issue so they have their place up for sale. 9 acres above 4000 feet. The winters are beautiful too.

Looks like Fall in that photo! Was that taken this spring?

I don't know it was saved on the computer right now that pass is covered in snow .

Confused..thought you went on a high country hunt (7000’ EL)! prior to spring snow.
Should be some serious snow at 7000’ this time of year!

Are you trying to start something ? We were above 7000 ft and no snow we are having a drought in California its snowing today . Nothing but bare ground on south west facing slopes two days ago only snow was on north facing slopes . When my son downloads photos from his camera Ill post I did not take any photos . There was a lot of bikes and motor cycles riding on dry pavement over the pass 8,314 ft on wed .

Thanks for sharing. If I get this right, I remember a particular spot where I found some good artifacts and several years later it seems I can't find the place again. Good Luck on your next hunt!
