I went down to a spot this morning that has been producing for me lately. I had hunted for about an hour when I heard that old, familiar, shotgun shell tone. I have been in the habit lately of only discriminating iron and digging all "small and tight" signals because I really want to find a gold ring this year. Low and behold, it wasn't a shotgun shell this time!

Unfortunately the shield side of the coin is destroyed, but you can clearly make out the "5" on the reverse side of the coin. Lesson learned; dig everything!

Congrats on your first shield nickel. She might not be the prettiest, but she's a keeper.

I have been trying to dig those signals that you barely get a signal on every second or third pass. some turn out to be iron but then sometimes it is pretty darn good. congrats
