✅ SOLVED hi went out today and i need help with this one

I'm thinking piece of railroad track? Maybe where they link together? I have one like it in my garage with out the hole.
I got it from my wife's aunt so I cant say for sure. I use it like an anvil for hammering something on.

I do know there was and old railroad track across the road on the other side of a big creek this was up in the woods on the other side of the road on a steep hill.

How do you clean it up?

Looking at it in your hand, it appears that it may have a lot of age on it. Today tracks are a lot bigger than that.

I agree that it is a piece of old track or narrow/light gauge track.

jbbj, I think about every other farmer in the state of TN has a similar piece of rail to use as a shop anvil. I have also seen a many of them used for anchors and even counterweights. Would be hard to say what it was used for. Also the size may tell ya if regular railroad or mining track etc. Most of the old coal mines used a track similar for mining carts but of coarse a little smaller and lighter duty. Many of the little communities north of Chattanooga near the mountain were started from the coal mines. I have used a piece for years as a weight on a finishing disc and also used one as a leveling drag by hooking it to chains behind my tractor. Plowboy ingenuity ha ha. :icon_thumleft:
