Hi Everyone,
I wasn't quite ready to give up on the season just yet.
The forecast today called for sunshine with a high of 37.
To quote Col. Sherman T. Potter, "Bullpucky!!!!" (RIP, Harry)
I left the house with gear in tow, at around 12:30.
The thermometer at the bank read 23 degrees C.
The winds? Let's just say they were steady at around 7-10 mph.
I thought...ok, a brisk start. It'll warm up.
It didn't.
I headed out to the country to dig an old building foundation.
After 30 minutes of being out in the middle of a field where the winds blow unhampered,
I decided to put "Plan B" into motion.
I drove into the city to a couple spots that were sheltered from the winds.
First spot:
I dug a lot of penny signals, nuttin' but memorials and zincolns - except a '46 wheatie. (score)
Second spot:
A few more penny signals, then an "iffy" quarter signal.
Dug the plug, flipped it and used the pinpointer.
Yup, something in the hole.
So, I dig a little deeper and see a little spot of silver in the hole.
Dug a little more.
Yup, it's shiny.
The moment that I grabbed it, I knew it wasn't what it was pretending to be.
These aluminum token/coins will fool you when they're in the hole.
(This is the 2nd one I've found)
So, for my troubles on a frigid, blustery day...all I get are a wheatie and a wanna-be coin.
Grrr, are you kidding me? Three hours of freezing my butt of for THIS?
Did I mention I'm going out again tomorrow?
