I already posted in the water section but figured I would post here and just say hello and that this is a great forum. I have read through hundreds of posts and can tell there are a lot of nice folks along with a great amount of knowledge.

I have been metal detecting since the 1980's however after moving to Florida in 1989 didn't do much. Just recently caught the bug again and gave my brother my old compass and bought a white beach hunter ID.

Looking forward to hitting the beaches on the West Coast of Florida where I live.....

Hey FloridaBill Great beach hunting area in Punta Gorda you will have a blast. Check out the ghost town section for deserted towns in your area there are quite a few.

You sound like me Bill I started in the late 70's then seldom went for years then got bit hard again about 4 years ago. You won't regret getting back into it. Good to have you here on T-Net. I wish I lived closer to the beach. I see alot of good finds coming from beaches. I look forward to seeing what your digging.

Thanks everyone... thanks flahunter I have been doing a lot of research on my area and to be honest have found very little. I did read through all of the ghost town posts and couldn't find anything?

Looks like about the only thing my area has is some good beaches, glad I bought a water machine....
