Hello, my name is Jason and i currently live in Ventura. My dad and brother have been pretty into gold prospecting for a few years and I have just become very interested as well. Basically I don't know anything, for the past week have been reading all I can find, actually quite a bit of this website. I have a few questions hopefully someone can help me out with. I'm definately going out this Wednesday for my first time after work, where should I go? I live in Ventura and would like to head to ojai or somewhere local but I havent seen any info of gold prospecting in ojai! I have read about piru, is that my only closest option. Second I have a sluice and a couple pans. Is my bedtime bet to head up there and do all the work up there, or just get up there fill a bunch of buckets with creek sand and take it home? Thanks for any help, and any other info would be great!!!!

EZ to do--follow the western road past the lake and once the road comes to the crik crossing your there and the gold starts there. Check with ranger station as environutz are getting everything banned everywhere and laws might be different now. 1/2 mile up,left hand side about even with the island in the middle of the flood plain is a thin vertical canyon that used to produce real good. The site shipwrecks was killed beyond repair by environutz and my ol'bud Grubstake used to mine north of you and all over the santa barbara and north area and found good gold. The book says no but he has proven otherwise BUT HACKERS KILLED THE INFO/SITE and he's in Sierra Leone mining diamonds/gold and don't know when he'll be home as he doesn't know either---John

hey marley. i haven't been there in a few years always found color. however i heard that its no more prospecting. not even pan and shovel. so check first. also no problem for a car then like hoser said boots on the ground. highdesertranger
