I noticed this was your very first post - so, Welcome Aboard Rock123456! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forums: Select Your Area.... and selecting location information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country). You might also consider adding your state (or country) to your displayed profile (SETTINGS -> EDIT PROFILE) so if you ask a question, etc. - people may have more success helping you (if necessary)...

Welcome to TreasureNet. Nice looking rock, but I don't know anything about rocks - except those in my head.

It looks like iron or steel slag to me. A chunk of metal left after a casting is made. Is there a steel foundry near you? or near where it came from?

You might do a search for the thread "Got a rock you want identified? post it here." by Dustedyou. If it's a rock he might know. Good luck.

Some type of nickel ore? I don't know enough about meteorites to judge that.
