I got this when my gramps passed away what is it veary heavy like 5 pounds it most likely comes from northern parts of Canada.

Yes the magnet sticks to it . I did a streak test on porcelain and ceramic it left a black line

It looks like iron or steel slag to me. A chunk of metal left after a casting is made. Is there a steel foundry near you? or near where it came from?

I'm not Sure I know it came from northern Canada tho .I suppose it could be possible I will have a look at slagg samples it just didn't look man made to me and its very weathered very small iron stains

That was my first thought...meteorite maybe.

Some type of nickel ore? I don't know enough about meteorites to judge that.

I thought so aswell but it left a black streak on a tile dunno how accurate that test is
