Hey ya'll from Nashville, Tn (Rae says with a Southern Drawl)
Heyyyyyyyyyyyy, my name is Rachel & I cannot tell you how pleased I am to have been directed to a site that has so many different passions...
I have a wide variety of items that I have accumulated over the years and quite honestly, have no idea what they are- No joke! I mean, I know the obvious arrowhead or bullet but not the specifics surrounding it such as how it was used or what type of gun/war.
My many collections range from Native American finds on my property, to Shark's teeth from Venice Beach, Fl, in all sorts of sizes, colors and ages to battlefield finds from the 70s and 80s. My collecting started simply because I enjoyed digging in the dirt and finding something that looked interesting & unusual be it a shard of green glass or a smooth stone that stuck out from the pile of jagged ones.. From there I graduated to poking around old and abandoned farmhouses and creek beds to becoming a master, or at least I thought I was when I purchased a metal detector lol
After excited hours of digging at every 'beep' turned into days of merely finding those damn cola pull tabs and anything with a hint of aluminum, I almost gave up! But just when I was ready to go back to playing in my old sandbox I found a class ring! And not just any class ring either. Oh boy no- this was the class ring that can only be found glued to the company plastic business card tray... haha
So my first find wasn't all that, but it was exciting and I was of course hooked! Many of my finds are from back in the days when you could just walk into any field or in any park or enter any run down house/building and search around. I also have been fortunate in being the proud recipient of items passed down via family old-timers that I would love to be able to identify- not necessarily for selling but just for knowing what it is that I have been lugging around for the last 30 years and hoping it wasn't an ordinary 'rock' or hunk of twisted metal
Not long ago I made the mistake of having a lumbar fusion that took away my ability to do much of anything. So, since I can no longer dig in the dirt, I thought I'd start trying to identify what is in all these tubs.
I look forward to hearing from you all and especially those more knowledgeable than myself. I also welcome any and all comments, suggestions, historical tidbits & yes, even criticism pertaining to any pictures or questions I post!!! Would also love recommendations on where to look or must reads.
Keep digging-
Rae
