Largie for that lousy piece of Iron (the second piece) you found today ;D It is Beautiful day in Pennsylvania today. The weather has cooled down a bit, sun shining, what a day to be detecting. We started off meeting Mach 1 at daylight where some construction has been going on. He had located a big piece of iron yesterday but couldn't get it out at the time. That piece turned out to be a big heavy iron pot lid, nice relic for sure. Should have taken a picture of it, BTW Mach it's still in the back of my Truck :D While he was working on that I found the large button in the picture. Not long after that he got a Mortar Ball piece that may match the one I found a couple of weeks ago, we'll see later. I walked across the road and came up with what may be a smashed trigger guard, followed by a small ramrod holder and the smaller button. I wondering if the rest of the gun isn't somewhere near by...I hope to find out. Then we all went to another site we had pounded pretty good in the past. I manage a nice medium flat button then Mach had to leave. So John and I stayed about 20 minutes and then left for home. He hadn't found much so I asked him if he wanted to stop at the Red Brick house he found the largie at last weekend. I had about 45 minutes before we had to be home. DeArmitt got himself a flat button :icon_thumright: I got an iffy hit on the F-75 pinpointing at 7 inches. As I got ready to dig I noticed someone had dug there before. Who ? One of us for sure But I don't know. Anyhow at around 7 inches and to the side of hole that was already dug I found this 1803 Cent. Anyone know which Variety it might be ? That back is pretty bad. Now one of us for sure missed it but neither John or I knew who missed it. Check your holes ;D Another fun day in PA

PS
Here is a couple of pics of Mach's and my first fragments which match up, Now will his piece today fit the puzzle ??

Its just way too cool that the two parts match up.... ;D

Sorry, but I'm not trading either of my iron relics from yesterday for that toasted old sliver of copper.... :laughing9: :tongue3: ::)

Next week maybe we can see if part #3 will fit that particular mortar. :icon_pirat:

Nice digs Bob, love the French & Indian War Mortar Ball frags!

Nice looking copper Bob

Nice Job. That's a hunt to be proud of!

I don't know how I missed this post. Too bad for the one who missed it. :'( :laughing7: It cleaned up nicely. Keep at it, Bob! Fall is in full Colonial swing.

Kirk :hello:

Looking at this post one more time. Really good hunt :headbang:....Its really nice that Mach was able to find both halves of the 6 pounder. Thats a very nice find :icon_thumleft: :headbang:

Actually I found one half, Bob found the other.... :)

But I found a third piece last Saturday, its just my work schedule will not allow us to get together and try to see if it fits with the other two. The third piece has a half of a fuse hole just like Bob's piece, so it is possible. We will know in a few days. ;D

Can you believe it - Bob is trying to get me to sell them to him for only one cent? ::) :laughing9:

hope it is a match!!!! neat finds!!! MR TUFF
