Hey Guys snow finally melted,found brass snap

found this brass snap or something, has a H on front and bendable tabs on back , i think it is modern , found on the road going to the 18Th century site.

Hard to tell .. I have always wondered how some thing end up where they are.

Yes that exactly what it is. Good ID. They needed to be popped off to access the screw to remove the handle to replace the washer. Ive repaired many of them. Could be shower too. Easy to lose and the tabs break or get weak... You appear to be mising some tabs so it wont stay on.
