I feel like a newbie when I hunt my cornfield! ;)

Would this be considered a successful hunt?

I got this one strange hit, was gonna pass it up except it was nearly on top. So, I dug.

Don't bother looking too closely at the coins, they're all clad. But, it sure added a bit of fun to my hunt! :)

WHADIFIND, Now you know after a hunt like that and you post all that stuff...You answered your own question
A terrible hunt ! I'd stay outta those fields, If thats all you can bring to the table, then you need to sell your detector
and take up needlepoint, your wasting your time.................LOL. No sir I'd call that a good day down 'round my part of the woods! And for all that I'll give you an ATTA BOY!!!!!!!.....................HH

Thanks! It did feel kinda strange once I figured out what I had found. But, boy! Once I did and I saw the word "Airlines", I started searching all over for a name tag of DB Cooper! LOL :)

you should dig all the strange hits - flat button is a good sign and so is the musket ball
signs of 1800's activity

Ya know, Casper, I was slighly against digging EVERYTHING when out but that was because I was used to digging parks etc. This is my first cornfield and it's teaching me a LOT! First of all, it can be very, very difficult just to WALK around in the corn stubble!! LOL But, also, I'm finding the signals aren't reading quite as I expect either. The button read at 51 and the purse bounced around between 40 - 70. Even the solid musket ball read in at 60. Usually, solid lead would read higher. But, regardless of the numbers, the signals are few and sometimes very far apart. It's not like I have to be worried about a manicured lawn. ;) I find myself digging each one that crops up, unless it's pure iron and big. (and sometimes, I dig those too. might be a treasure chest! ;) )

Thanks for the tip, they're all welcomed by this field newbie!
