From the website: http://www.coinsite.com/content/cdanswers/cdarchive14.asp

"This is a German Coin. The Legend, FRANC.D.G.R.I.S.A.GER.IER.REX. says Francis, By the Grace of G-d (D. G.) Emperor of the Romans ever August (Romanorum Imperator Semper August or R.I.S.A.) and King of Germany and Jerusalem (GER. IER.REX). The reverse says, TU DOMINE SPES MEA 1752 or Thou Lord is my hope, 1752. Fortunately most of Europe used Latin in their coin legends irrespective of the national language. At least one only has to learn the Latin abbreviations.

I'm not sure which German City State this coin is from, though I will guess it is a silver Thaler (approximately the size of a English Crown) and could very well be from Nuremberg. The value depends on the which type, denomination and grade but the most common of these Thalers trade in decent condition between US$100 - $300."

Nice one TEXAN, but it seems like it's in too good of shape which makes me lean towards a repro. (Maybe leave it out of the bag of coins just in case.)

Oh Oh, what's the date again?

From the website: http://www.rgjband.com/treasure_trove.html

"The date is 1752, and for those with poor eyesight the lettering around the edge (face) reads: FRANC.D.G.REG A.GER.IER.REX the back reads: TU DOMINE SPES MEA.1752
Oh dear...!! It seems as though my fortune is NOT about to be made with the sale of this coin. I am very sad and unhappy to inform you all that it's identity is now solved. It was, apparently, a gimmick - put out by Readers Digest about 1990."

That's 'Uncle' Likely Guy to you. (Google get's the credit.)

Yes uncle....

And actually it's amazing that usually all someone needs to do is put the wording on an item into google and read what pops up. Sometimes it's only that easy.

It looks fake to me. An easy way to find out is to test for gold or silver. It definitely doesnt look like silver. Pictures can sometimes be deceiving but my guess is shiny plated pot metal replica.

Thanks drache. I missed that. Great ID Likely Guy. You can tell its cheap just by looking at it. It doesnt mean its not collectible to somebody. Green check please.
