Here's a free satellite link

Here's a free satellite link that you can use to zoom in on the area you want to hunt. Use the scroll button to zoom in or out. Left click on the map and hold down the button to drag the map to center it. It starts out at El Paso Texas but you can zoom out to locate the area you want. It times out after several minutes and when you click on refresh it will start over at El Paso. Have fun with it. I sure have.

Re: Here's a free satellite link

Thanks for the posting. I certainly don't mean to offend you, but have you tried Google Earth or NASA World Wind? Both are free downloads or you can use Google Maps strictly for browser-based imagery. In either case I believe you will find they are much higher resolution and detail - no zoom restrictions.

Here are the links for each:

Google Earth: http://earth.google.com/

NASA World Wind: http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov

I highly recommend having both since each have features not available on the other. World Wind not only has high-resolution imagery sets, but also allows you to instantly switch to USGS topo maps for the area you are focused on. Google Earth has great imagery as well and but it allows you to pop in your own coordinates or put placemarks on points of interest for future viewing. Someday I hope there will be one solution that packs in the unique features of both.

Hope you find this useful.

Re: Here's a free satellite link

Thanks for the site... I checked out my area and found the map there to be like ten or more years old... just mentioning it in case your looking for very current information... most has not changed, and in fact it can be very helpfull as over time some things kinda fade away! It's relevence is a decade old which can be bad OR good... depending on how you use it!

It's very simple! Thanks! :)

Re: Here's a free satellite link

I'm still on dial-up. World Wind requires DSL, dang it.
Occasionally, Google Earth won't "focus" for me. Does anyone else run in to this?
Suggestions?
Thanks,
Bill
