Very nice  Is that fusion crust and nickel flecks on your Tissant I see sciflyer25.

Yes TJE, fresh fusion crust. Not sure if the metal flecks are nickel or iron. This piece is only 140+ mg, but my 10x Belomo loupe really brings out all detail, especially the black glass pockets.

It sure has that familiar look!:laughing7:
Your Buzzard must have some dark fusion too doesnt it :icon_thumright:

Yes, mostly crusted. I eventually would like to get a whole stone. Nothing like a fresh fall with fusion crust!

Great photos. The last two photos show a crystal structure called Widmanstatten Pattern. Awesome specimens!

Happy Hunting,

SF25, Are you familiar with the Muonionalusta irons from northern Sweden. They are also a fine octahedrite iron like the Gibeon. They pretty much look identical when etched. I believe it was first discovered in the very early 1900's. I have a picture of an etched slice on one of my meteorite jewelry posts on this forum. SC1

Hey Cutter, yes, I have a slice of Muonionalusta. The etch and patterns are close to Gibeon, but I think Gibeon has better luster in good lighting. Also, my Gibeon has crust where my Muonionalusta is a square 1.5 x 1.5 inches.
They both make fine jewelry and are stable as I understand.

Just what I was thinking to sf25, your Gibeon and the likes would make Awsome necklaces! ;)

Wow! Great collection. I've never bought one, but I have found quite a few at Gold Basin, in Arizona. It is the only "Fossil" strewnfield, other than Antartica, and I'm lucky to have found several Gold Basin meteorites.

SF25, That is a nice collection for sure! I'm working on a few new meteorite jewelry pieces. I hope to have some pics up as I finish them. I have one 14KT yellow pendant with a Gibeon slice,it has a triangle cut moissanite and 3 bezel set sapphires mounted in it. It is posted on this site under Gibeon iron meteorite pendant
