HERE IT IS .. But WHAT is it? ~ Solved by Breezie - "Plaquette Relief"

Original title to my post: I found a whatzit today, but before I post it I need to clean it. THE PROBLEM:

It is made out of some sort of very thin lead, plated with something, and it is very soft. The red dirt seems to be stuck fast to it and won't come off with a light washing or a light brushing. Does anybody know if steam cleaning lead will hurt it?
Once I get it clean, I will post it for an ID

It measures 8 inches long by 6 1/4 inches wide. Obviously nailed or screwed in place at one time.

Depends on how hot your steam is , takes over 600 degrees to melt lead.
Whats that boy smokin?

Hi,

What an amazingly beautiful depiction of a boy blowing bubbles!
With what appears to be a mother or babysitter/governess.

And did you notice that the tree is staked and appears to be trained
in the espalier style.

From looking at the back it is obvious that it was cast rather than
stamped as the lack of detail shows.

Based on the size I would guess that at one time it might have been
mounted to the top of a box. Jewelry or cigar? I don't know

It might just be my eyes but it looks like there are letters, on the top
border on the left, just above the arch of the branch.

A very nice find indeed!

Don't know what it is but the one boy is blowing a soap bubble and his brother on the left is about to pop it with his stick!

Creskol, Kudos on finding a very nice lead panel/plaquette relief. The red could be a bronze coating over the lead. It may have been Italian or German made. Breezie
