Here is how to find old coins

Got a private message about these old coins and other things of interest. So here's hoping this works in your area. I started out in this hobby 5 years ago or so. I had a radio shack detector made by bounty hunter. I hunted yards and grassy strips. Got mostly clad and some silver nothing too old. I got a chance to hunt some yards where houses were torn down and the yards shaved down several inches. I started getting the pre-1900 coins and ended up getting the dahlonega $5 gold coin. This was with a $200 machine. I also started hunting swidewalk demos. Many old coins there too. In those areas dig all positive signals. Doing this one can find all sorts of tokens, brass, buttons. as well as low reading old coins such as nickle 3 cent pieces, copper nickle Indian heads.

i have to agree with you Pete...construction sites where the is a lot of history are the best...one of my last hunts of the year i hit this construction site with some history...i hit only a few dirt piles and dug silver no clad at all and best of all not much trash

Your bordering on the Flying Eagle cents, have you turned up any of them ?
I've gotten only 3 out of Charleston S.C. area.
Also of interest, the earlier the Indians the more the value. You may not
realize it but anything before 1900 starts to get pricey, and the 1860's - 1870's can
cost in the $30 to $50 range per coin - or more....
So you have done well ...

Not one flying eagle yet. More 1860's than 1870's Indians. But that was due to the economics of the day.

Cool digs pete!

I know I've seen most of them before but, love those "old" indian heads!
