Any guesses here? Come on peeps
I thought it might be from a round ball mould but I havent seen any moulds with 2 balls and a bar in between. :dontknow:

Timekiller, I think you nailed it.
The piece is 1- 3/4" long and weighs 20 grams.
I'm assuming it's made of lead but doesn't seem heavy enough, may be bronze?
I found it on an early site here in Ky that dates to early 1800's, maybe earlier.

Breezie, your idea of a knife rest is a good one and I guess a possibilty.
Seems like my piece would roll on the table versus staying stationary with the flat sides like the one you posted.

Usually its 2 balls with a single bar :o

Lead alloy was what it looked like to me as well,I've found them in balls that don't weigh like lead of the same size :thumbsup: They used what they had I think. :wink:

Great ID! Looks like you need to mix Elmers Glue and Water 50/50 and paint it on that with a soft brush to preserve it.
