Here is a keeper

Any more luck in the area you pulled that from. Great find.

Beautiful stone, with awesome color, great find.:icon_thumleft::icon_thumleft::icon_thumleft:

TAKODA, i'm sure its worth more as an Alabama specimen than the actual gold weight! Looks freshly split open, any gold on the other pieces?

Keeper for sure, it's a beautiful specimen.

Yep,your onto it!!!Thats what I like to see, bud, keep atit!!

You are the discoverer of a hard rock gold deposit. Things can get complicated from here. Suggest you hold your cards tightly to your vest.

looks like you need help, I'm on standby . l.o.l. ---- I can't get in the water for a little while . went last weekend and cut my leg real bad ,slipped on a rock and cut my shin wide open ,thought I was going to bleed out right there! lost about 2-3 pints , maybe more .took all I had to not pass out .the good Lord was with me thank goodness. plus good ole shop rags and duct tape ! I was by myself , very remote - didn't think I was hurt that bad - till I saw a red plume in the water about 12 feet long ! looked like I was bit by a shark! I had been bleeding / gushing for 10 minutes , had to secure everything ,another 15 minutes ,then walk 1/4 mile to the truck ,by the time I reached the truck my diving boot was full and spilling over ,leaving a large blood trail, sat down - put on towels and duct tape plus direct pressure for another 20 minutes ,by then I was very light headed done bled a spot 3 foot around in the back of the truck, down to the bumper ,down the bumper to the ground , and ran across the ground . It was a close call by any ones standards . I am very lucky to be sitting here typing .

That really is some nice gold Takoda. Keep us posted as you can while, as was said, keeping your cards close to the vest.

Strickman, what an ordeal. I'm glad it work out ok for you. Better yet, thank you for the great idea. Duct tape is going into my prospecting backpack. We all know the many uses of this stuff but your story popped the light bulb in my head to add this to my emergency supplies.
I've spent many years in the back country working at land surveying, hunting, fishing and prospecting. From just working so many years in the back country using sharp tools (machetes and chain saws) I and coworkers have had some serious injuries. I can see now how duct tape would have been a possible life saver.

Thank again,
Mike

Damn Strick ....... be careful man . You gotta have an aid kit with you at ALL times man .
That's a rule you just don't break . Not good to have to resort to dirty rags and duct tape dude .
There is some nasty bugs out here now days .I'm sure they gave you an antibiotic but you should
still watch close for any sign of infection or not healing . You don't want to be the next Georgia
case of that flesh eating crap a few folks have contracted over there for damn sure .

Get a kit Strick . A small fanny pack that you can tuck in your big pack or strap on your waist
is better than nothing . This is mine and I don't trek off hunt'n without it . Might save your ass
one day . Besides ................ we cain't have you leak'n blood all over Georgia ............ Hell ,
I'm liable to step in some and mess my boots up ;D .

"An once of prevention is worth not bleeding to death"

I had a kit , but this was bad ! the shop towels I keep in the truck are the blue ,paper type they sell at advance on a roll . They were clean - I promise . But the tape in my kit was only 1/2" . When you are gushing duct tape is better ! I keep good supplies in my pack,my truck has two kits . Plus you got to admit it sounds better using shop towels and duct tape ! l.o.l.That kit has saved me a time or two. Takoda, you have the same size tape I had .Trust me get duct tape as well. I usually dredge so duct tape is a must .One thing about the who deal was in a way it was good that I bled so bad .It kept bad bugs from getting in .They don't swim against the current so good ! Next time you need to be there T, might need someone to have my back !

Hey Guys,
Quite a thread here! Starts out with "in the raw" Gold Nuggets (if T's piece were to make it into a stream) and ends up with Golden Nuggets of caution and info on life saving emergency supplies. Strickman, glad to know you are recovering well and that you normally carry good first aid supplies with you and duct tape being the magic stuff it is, is a wise add on to an "out there kit" as just like happened to you a large cut takes a lot to get it under control. I do remote backpacking/prospecting usually by myself so I carry an all around kit with me but I will add some wide tape. Another item I carry is a gps unit called the SPOT Messenger. The one I have has three buttons for sending out fixed messages, I'm OK, I'm hurt but moving to safety and 911. I've had to use the 911 button once and the helicopter showed up a few hours later. Anything that saves your life is worth carrying even if it costs more than a roll of duct tape!

Takoda, lovely gold and pictures! Thank you for sharing with us wanta be's, of course I'm speaking about myself!

Now, time for work...........63bkpkr

Beautiful specimen there, and damn guys be careful out there!
Takoda's kit should be on everyone.
I keep a spare in my car. :)

Oh, Newskin is also a MUST!
Burns like hell, but small stuff gets sealed up right away.
