found this interesting pin over the weekend. it is made of GF metal and its construction looks continental (based on the style of pin-catch on the back). it depicts a shield, two crossed axes, a crown, and at the center a piece of white glass handpainted with a black weeping willow (?) with red leaves. i feel like i have seen that tree design somewhere before.
it is fairly well made for a piece of non-precious jewelry--the texture on the axes is hand engraved, all of the parts are separately assembled. it is missing a stone in the round bezel below the crown.
there are no identifying marks of any kind. it appears to date to circa 1920s.
my question is does anybody recognize this as a specific heraldic image? i know sometimes generic coat-of-arm type motifs were used in jewelry but didn't actually mean anything--it was just the look.
