Before Dman and I went on a house hunt today so I would "find" a brass disc that Modern Miner sent to Dman for me to find that had my initials & 1864 (allegedly my birthday) on it, I cleaned my pouch of the usual shotgun brass, campfire lead, fired bullets, etc. from our last week's outing at Morgan's CSA Camp with Josh. I spotted a rimfire cartridge that looked like about .44 cal. Having found a .44 cal. Henry Rifle Cartridge in a Yankee site in Southern Tennessee with Dman, I thought I'd better clean the bottom. Sure enough, there was the "H'. I compared it to the Henry .44 cal.Rifle Cartridge in my display box but this cartridge was about a quarter inch shorter. I call Larry Hicklen in Murfreesboro and told him the site and what the brass cartridge looked like. He said the Henry Co. made a bullet for derringers but did not make the pistol. The cartridge is mashed but anything made by Henry and in a CS camp is cool here. Have a great weekend and MM, look out-LOL. HH, Quindy.

Quin, Jeff and I dug some of those Derringer Henry shells in the same field that the Hampton Military Academy buttons came out of. They must've been shooting target practice because there were lots of Henry Shell cases of different sizes including the smaller ones you mentioned. A nice little addition to the riker box there my friend :icon_thumleft:

Thanks Josh. According to Larry, they fit the chamber of several types of CW derringers. Have a good 'un Bud, Quindy.

Q-man,
You are like a hound dog when it comes to finding CW relics.

As for the brass disc with your initials & date on it, that was an LC (measurements were correct) I dug up weeks ago that was smooth as a babies bottom. I decided to add my own special touch to it for you. :tongue3: :laughing9:
I had totally forgot I had sent that to Dman to plant for you. HILARIOUS!!! I wish I had that on film. :laughing9:

Could you please post a front and back photo of that "relic" for all of us to enjoy? ;D

I'm sure I will NOT be enjoying the payback. :violent1:

Not likely to post it MM as you and the other clown Dman have enjoyed it enough for everyone. Remember-payback is a ..... HH, Q.

Nice find Quindy. I love finding brass other than those from the 12th GA.

Did you check it against known types of volcanic rifle cartridges?

Nevermind, looks like they only produced models up to 41 cal.

Cuz, it's almost impossible to tell the size for sure but it seemed to be the same caliber as the .44 cal. Henry Rifle Cartridge (authenticated by a relic dealer who had found a few Henry Cartridges at that site himself) in my box and the pic in the M & M bullet book. Thanks for looking.

cool find Q, anything different from the norm is always good :headbang:

Only 2 in mine Joe. Not too many repeaters in these early Western Theater sites. Good luck, Quindy.
