If you missed the first post with updates, see above.

This was a 5 hour Cru'dad solo hunt, I had a bike accident yesterday & may have bust my collar bone. Writing this with my left hand...
The Archies backed up our original theory that this field was settled in the 6th-9th C. Lots of post holes found & what might be a large aisled hall.
They also answered the question of why we had a big blank spot in the corner, it was all quarried out for gravel.

Finds were not that many today but we handed over;
1 Scrappy
Saxon Small-Long Brooch catchplate
Tudor Book Clasp
Lots of nails...

Below are a few buttons we kept & a W&M Farthing etc...

Sorry about the mishap, Cru. In talking with the physician, they said you'll never be able to play the piano again, nor dig another hole. At least you went out with a bang. :tongue3:

Godspeed, Cru'

You know these things are horrible! I think everything without a motor is dangerous. Had lots of accidents with bikes, later grown up, only two or three with a motorcycle. :laughing7: At least the slack season starts, till harvest you're doing great again. Take some pints, helps fighting pain and works left hand side too. get well soon! :occasion14:

Man sorry to hear about the accident. Last November I busted my hand good and couldn't hunt for almost a month.

Ever consider hiring a "digger" and just detecting with your left hand? Lol

Speedy recovery!

Sorry about you accident, been there, done that!
Thanks for your post and your contribution to the collective knowledge of the world. I don't know if I could easily give up such fascinating digs.

Get well and keep on digging-

Yeap, been swapping hands for years since my back injury to make my back equally twist each way, so left detecting is second nature. Therefore, considered the Cru'dad dig option, or somehow carry a spade & swing & dig with the left!

Haha! That's excellent use of what you have still working. After I injured my hand I was doing a similar technique.

Sorry to hear of your accident. Was that a bicycle or motorcycle? Love British Motorcycles!

Just a bicycle, probably kill myself with a motorcycle.
