Thank you copperhead! I must have tried 20 times to downsize just to get it to allow me to post THOSE pix! lol I use tinypic.com and obviously I'm doing something less than right resulting in super big photos. Wonder what the heck the coin is. Shane

Dixie? An ancient imitation or an imitation of an ancient? Makes a big difference to me.... :) Thanks, Shane

Here is a similar one that I bought on eBay. I bought some low-grade uncleaned coins for 50 cents each and there were some nice ones like this in the lot. I assume that this is genuine because they had 2000 years of clay crusted on them and they seller is still on eBay.

The one I have is about the size of a U.S cent. I bought it from a coin dealer, it was with a bunch more but this one in better shape. I am wondering if its a fake or really a real old coin. I will post it on a coin site/ forum I use and see if I can get more responses there.. Thanks, Shane

Just PMed Gunner for a full ID. You will get a response shortly.

Its real but they are not worth a great deal unless very rare. Romans produced them in huge numbers.

Yes sir! I feel the same way about holding something that old created by an ancient civilization! It is a very addictive hobby once you get the "bug"..and it looks like you have some symptoms :).

Waiting for one of those lucky UK people to let me come and dig with them :).
