So I found this today and have no idea of what it is. I found it near a really old barn and it is solid copper. The hole in the middle has a spring in it and it is 2 1/2" long.

Well, it looks like the picture are of at least 2 different objects. I'm sure that's not what you are intending but I can't match up the photos even together. Can you get us another couple pictures?

It looks like views from the 3 dimensions available, you want him to try 4th and 5th? Some kind of door lock part?
