Need help identifying this. I found it where there used to be an oilfield boomtown in early 1900's North Central Texas.

Size- 18" Square

The chains are not tight-the round plate hangs about 10" below the square.

Not sure what it is yet, but may I make an observation? By virtue of the hole in the middle of the round disc, I suspect that the disc was attached to something, and the square piece hung below the disc. Perhaps the square was some sort of "spreader" for the opening of a fabric bag or tube?
