Found in Oak Creek Colorado. Historical coal mining town. Item was found with a metal detector. ANYBODY?

I saw this as your profile photo while looking in a forum you had posted about something else. Then did a search of all your posts in hopes that you might have identified what it is because I have one too! Same as you, I have never been able to find out what it is either! Mine is in better condition and will post some pics for you when I find what box I put it in... I live in upstate NY and can't remember where I found it (somewhere in New York State). Mine is pretty heavy, so I thought maybe it was a pendulum for an old clock, but for some reason my instincts keeps telling me probably not.

Very glad to have found your photo of this...it has been one of those interesting puzzles that i hoped to one day figure out!

Don't know what it is, but I like it.
lived in Oak Creek for a while in my hippie days. Love that place.

Here are the pictures of the item I have. The reason I was suspect about it being a pendulum because it had a design on both sides, but maybe that is common, although I would think made it more expensive and for what purpose? It is 1 1/2 " wide, just shy of 1/2" thick and weighs a quarter pound. There was a silvered patina that has worn off most of it, mainly on the relief portions.

Thanks!
