HI EVERYONE, II WAS HOPING I COULD SEE IF YOU CAN ID THIS SHAKO HAT PLATE FOR ME. I AM TRYING TO CADALOG THIS IS MY COLLECTION BUT I CANT MAKE EVERYTHING OUT. WHAT I CAN MAKE OUT IS 4TH REGIMENT AND I SEE WHAT LOOKS LIKE 21. I DONT KNOW IF ITS 21 MOUNTED OR INFANTRY, I JUST DONT KNOW. PLEASE, ANY HELP IS BETTER THAN WHAT I HAVE NOW. I TRIED TO TAKE UP CLOSE PICS, THANX!!

this one looks like yours, and says it is

Hard to read the top line but the bottom reads, "21- REGT" Sub

This one sold at Cowan's Auction in 2005 for $1,600. They say it is 1815 - 1825.



There are some others out there. Yours likely says 4th COMPy 21st REGt.

yeah it is, but I cant make out what it says, it doesn't look like mounted , I was looking to see if you can tell me if it says that or maybe someone knows what regiment it is. that's why I am posting this. up close, I cant read it. I was hoping someone could tell me what regiment they think it is so I can add it to my collection

Noone is saying it isn't a tombstone shako plate. It certainly is.

To my eye, with the limited detail left on your relic, it is basically the same format as the pic I posted.

It is my opinion that yours said 4th COMPy 21st REGt. This was part of the New Hampshire militia at that time.

That's what I wanted to hear, I don't see mounted written on it like the guy says, I see what you see, and super cool of you to give me the extra info. Thanx, I can atleast give it a good description in my collection
