Picked up this combination pen/pencil last weekend at an estate sale. It has the original owner's name engraved on it and it is also marked with "M.S.& CO." on it. I have searched high and low and cannot find any information regarding this company. I can only find 2 references to this company or a pen made by this company. Here is one- pens@zoss.com and here is the other- Victorian Pen Pencil Combo Pendant M s Co Gold Color But I Can'T Find Any | eBay I'm trying to find out where this company was located and when they were in business. It's a dip pen so it's probably 1800's, I would guess. No other marks that I can find except the nib. It is marked "Mabie Todd & co. 2" Any help would be much appreciated. Here is my pen-

Thanks Breezie. I must apologize. After posting this I was messing with the pen and figured out that it actually extends out to another section that I had previously not seen before. I found some more marks on it. It says "Mabie's Patent Oct.3, 1854" inscribed on the side of it. Duh. I'll put this one to rest.

Here is the patent-

and the M.S.& Co. stands for Mabie Smith & Co., in business together from 1856-1860 according to this article from 1895-
