Help with Token ID

Found this token in the Washington DC area. It's slightly larger than a nickel and about an 1/8 inch thick and the edge is reeded. Any ideas would be appreciated! image.jpeg

That's a cool find and in terrific condition. @Plug N Play is correct that it's a coin weight.

This similar one is British and the stylised 'S' indicates it to be for '27 Shillings'. It's from the 1770s and was intended for checking the weight of a Portuguese gold coin of 4,000 reis (the coin was also known as the 'moidore'). It was a standard unit of trade in the 1700s and equated in value to 27 British shillings.
