Another find at the in-laws house, this tiny button. It has the word RICH on the back with what looks like the letters OR, aswell. It's about half the size of a penny so i'm thinking from the cuff? IMAG0404.jpgIMAG0403.jpg

"RICH COLOR"
typical cuff size 12 - 14 mm

Thank you, valley. This came out of a yard that i found these two buttons in a few weeks ago. One of which i know(the NY civil war one) and the one with a star, no clue.745.jpgIMAG0359.jpg

nice buttons

RICH COLOR? Is that a button manufacturer? Don't mean to sound ignorant but i really do not know. :dontknow:

Rich color, means gold gilt from what I've seen. Not a maker just what the button was plated with. Nice looking buttons.

nice find!Looks like a convex flower button.Sometimes you can find out date and manufacture by the gild mark

Thank you for looking and shedding some light on this. I really want to find out more on this tiny button. On a side note, can anyone id the button with the star? There is no markings on the back that i can see. Thanks in advance. :occasion14: You guys and gals are the best!

What type of back does the star button have?

It's pretty plain jane back to the star button. IMAG0359.jpgIMAG0360.jpg

The Rich Colour Civvy button is your oldest one, at about 1830s. The star looks like a 20th C blazer type to me.

So tell us what is the actual diameter ?

I have a couple of really small ones, probably from undergarments. I'll dig them out sometime today for a pic.

The tiny button is exactly 1/2" in diameter and the star button is 5/8" in diameter.

Sweet button. The sunburst pattern is pretty cool.
