HELP with threaded shank/post eagle button

AT Pro/max, Explorer, CTX, Tesoro Tejon, and many other..BUT MY GO TO MACHINE= Equinox 600 stock and 6" coils

Dug this button this yr at a local park, looks like it was gold plated before mother earth ended up with it..the shank was actually a threaded post like a nut held it onto whatever clothing article it was attached to, but i broke it off trying to bend it back straight ..is it a police,fire dept or military button?

Its the only threaded post button ive dug

It is an Army "Great Seal" button. It may have come off of a hat band. I can't ever remember when that particular style rim came out but I think it was either the late 1920s or 1940s. The great seal buttons came out in 1902 but they were rimless. In 1910 a rim was added but it was rounded. the flatter style rim like yours came out later and is still in use.

My guess is it was lost in the last couple decades , as the gilt is gone but it hadnt started to rust away
