Here's why:

Mechanical Mischief Makers

Gremlins were fictitious devilish spirits which made aircraft break down. They first appeared in the RAF during the Second World War. Problems with an aircraft would be blamed upon the work of the gremlins.

Airmen would combat the devilish gremlins by carrying mascots of lucky ones.

Thanks la beep,
however, it would seem an item like this would have been quite popular and not be so elusive to find information on. :-\
But at the same time, you are telling me I found a silver pendand that could be from WWII.. :D
Now I want to learn more about what I have found. 8)

I did not have a lot of time to search today, the information I found today was off a website that showed rag dolls as charms (Voodoo like). I found nothing about metal charms. I will look more as time permits. Maybe an american version. I am also still looking for something about haag.

Here'sthe link about the info posted above:

Kaag was a (Los Angeles) manufacturer of metal emblems; some (perhaps like yours) and another like the badge I used to wear as shown in the second object down on this page:

http://pagesperso-orange.fr/copspassions/policebadges.htm

You may wish to contact the LAPD and ask them if KAAG still produces their badges--and while doing so get some info on your find.
Don........
